Datacenters
We share the identification of datacenters described by the Norwegian datacenter Industry; datacenters include enterprise datacenters, colocation datacenters, small datacenters, large datacenters, AI factories, foregin datacenters, local datacenters – but not cryptomining. If there is no need for transport of communication, or sharing of production created in a datacenter, it is not a datacenter.
With a lot of different types of datacenters, there are also a lot of different work roles; from the projecting/financing/planning face, via the construction and building face, to the operational face.
Women
There are a lot of network for women, also in technology. There is a reason for this. Women are community builders and often rely on feedback and collaboration – which sometimes lead to uncertainty and a lot of unnecessary energy spent on self doubt. Sometimes, it’s just very comfortable to be able to meet other women and have the unspoken understanding of togetherness. Especially in male dominated fields, such as the datacenter industry.
Datacenter dames
While initiatives like ODA network and GirlTech are amazing, they seem to focus primarily on coding and software development. The datacenter industry is both very high tech, high finance, and nitty gritty down on the floor – but software development is not where the majority of the people in the datacenter industry work.
So thats why we decided to work towards creating this organization.
Datacenter dames do not have any bylaws yet, but ask and you shall receive (a copy of the draft as it is so far).
Norway
Do not be fooled by the English language on this website – vi er absolutt norske.
But Norway consists of not too many people, and a lot of people in the datacenter industry – an extremely rapidly growing industry – come from abroad. We welcome you, and we do not want to exclude you!
